During the afternoon of Tuesday 6th February, all Year 9 students attended the Fair in the Gym, escorted by either their science teachers or the PE staff. The event was arranged to provide students with the opportunity to find out about what is available for them after Year 11 and the GCSE examinations.

Local Further Education Colleges were invited along with the Armed Services, Cheshire Police and the NHS. Students were asked to gather information on courses the colleges had to offer, entry requirements and what qualifications they could achieve. Most were surprised to learn that it was possible to go to university with the qualifications offered by colleges! To ensure there was something for all interests, Wilmslow High’s Sixth Form were very ably represented by our Head Girl and Head Boy, together with the sixth form team.

Students also discovered which apprenticeships are possible at the end of Key Stage 4 and about how to apply for them. Several apprenticeship providers were invited to talk to students about the opportunities available, including Bott + Co. a local law firm, Proseal, an engineering company based in Adlington and Everybody Sport and Recreation, based in Wilmslow. Each of these companies brought their apprentices along with them to answer any questions our students may have for them.

Thank you to all the companies involved in making this Careers Fair such a successful event.
